Random Thought 79 - When Being Good is a Liability

When we extend ourselves to others, we feel that our life has a sense of purpose.

From time to time, we will be tapped by occasions where we can extend ourselves to others. There could be different ways in extending ourselves to those who are in need, mostly to our families, friends, and even acquaintances. When we extend ourselves, there's this kind of rewarding feeling and it really feels good.

When we extend ourselves, though it is not our obligation, it is our own small way of looking after to those are in need. If we are not going to help, who else they can turn to especially if others will turn their backs on them? And maybe, with whatever little help we can extend to them, it may change their lives forever.

But there is a BIG BUT.  Though we have this desire to extend ourselves and help others whenever we can, some might take advantage of our kindness. Maybe we've all got some learned lessons about helping others and being put to a disadvantage afterwards.

Even though we have this willingness to help others, not all of our good intentions will deliver something good. For this reason, we can't blame others if they turn a blind eye because they have learned a hard lesson - that sometimes, being good is a not good after all.
