The moment I saw several kids holding a pair of long and
short sticks, the memory of my childhood years resurrected in a flash.
Playing piko or syato was one of my favorite childhood
games. We would normally spend time
looking for hard and straight bamboo sticks or wood (guava sticks top our
list). The harder and sturdier the
sticks the better because they will always provide a good beating and would
last long. Though on the other side, if
you are the one who will try the catch the smaller stick while it is flying in
the air, the strong impact of the stick landing in your face if you’re not
careful enough would mean something to endure for a couple of days. But what the heck, we always had this game to
look forward to day after day.
