Pawid is the finished
product which is either made from nipa leaves or coconut leaves. Pawid is primarily used as roofs of houses
especially in rural areas.
I chanced upon a pawid
maker when I was in a barrio waiting for my ride. Since the motorcycle ride was not available,
my tendency was to find something worthwhile for the moment. And that was the time I saw the pawid maker.
When I approached and
asked her for some pictures, she did not decline my request. She was all smile and she asked about how her
pictures will be posted. When I told her
that they will be posted in the internet, she was hoping that her relatives
abroad would someday see her. We’ll
never know. J
