Moment 81 - Chowking

I had an experience with an international fast food chain where they don't allow customers to take pictures of their store including their menu which is commonly posted right behind the counter.  They said that it is the company's policy not to allow any picture taking activity inside the store because of competition.  That was odd and I find it stupid.

Competition is an every day challenge among fast food chains or any other organizations to that effect.  It will be a stupid idea to simply step inside the store and take pictures of almost all the nooks of the store.  When competitors will normally spy each other, they will not show their gadgets and will not allow anyone inside the store to see that they are actually spying on them.  And as if they don't have any online page that will not entertain competitors to actually see what they are offering. Besides, a couple of pictures won't hurt them when visitors will simply take a souvenir pic that they were there enjoying their food. In fact, it will be an additional promotion for them.

The last time I visited chowking, there was no such company policy that taking pictures inside the store is prohibited.  Actually, they don't mind at all.  The personnel would even peep into my camera to find out if they look good and laugh heartily afterwards. They even volunteered to arranged some items on top of the counter for a much better shot of their product.  If competition is really observe, then, it should be centered towards customer satisfaction.
