Exploring Philippines 59 - Pandan, Antique (Post 2 - Bugang River)

Aside from sight seeing and exploration, my main objectives were to experience and feel the pristine environment of Bugang River and at the same time capture its beauty. Our guide was a fast walker or maybe it was just a walk in the park for him. Since I had to stop and take pictures, we would lose sight of him from time to time. I simply asked him it is okay for him to bear with us because of the picture taking activity and he said that it was alright.

I was anticipating a long walk and perhaps some climbing in order for us to reach the source of the river. It was good that it was just a simple trek and no rigorous climbing activity took place.

As we cruise the path beside the river, I can't help but to admire the beauty of the place. I must say that this place is well protected by the local community because the river is the main source of the water supply for the whole town of Pandan. Actually, one can literally drink the water that comes straight from the river. And it was like drinking a cold water coming out from a refrigerator.

Before coming to this place, we had our early lunch at the town proper of Pandan. Since we will be going to a remote area, it is a good move to have a full stomach rather than worrying afterwards where to eat. It was already past 11 in the morning when we cruised the river of Bugang and we were glad that we already ate in advance.

The moment we passed the concrete bridge of Malumpati resort, we were greeted by the trees that cover the whole place. The silent flowing of water in the river seems comforted and not threatened because of the canopy of trees that blanketed the place. Even if it was high noon, the canopy of trees protected us against the scorching heat of the sun and the wind that blows from time to time was an added relief as we traced the path towards the source of the river.

Artists will definitely love and enjoy this place. One can simply sit in one of the branches of lower trees, lean on one of those big trunks, sit squarely on top of a big rock, or perhaps finding a comfortable place at the edge of the river and trying to feel the energy of the place. For me, the feel of the place made me unload those unwanted negative energies. And what I love the most about this place is its state of tranquility and gentleness.
