Exploring Philippines 25 - Zambales (Post 5 - Capones Island)

After nearly an hour of stay at the lighthouse, we had to go back. Though I found the time spent in this place too short to enjoy my hobby, we need to move and proceed to our next destination. But even with just a short period of time, I knew that each one of us had a good memory of this place, some stories to share, and a good experience to cherish.

Tracing our way back was an easy task. Usually, if it is your first to visit a place, the time in getting there could be like eternity. But when you'll leave the place, eventually, it is just a matter of time and the travel time is not that long.

When we reached the shore below, the tide was already high and waves were more alive. It was good news! The stronger and the higher the waves would mean more exciting moments for all of us.

Gerard was the first one to make his stand. Carlo was able to find a bamboo pole and immediately aided Gerard to pose like an island survivor. Against a huge rock where the waves strike at their best, we made Gerard to hold his ground. And huge wave after another, it was like they were having fun also hitting Gerald.

Bon on the other hand climbed on top of a big rock. It was an irony on his part. His legs were already wet but he don't want to get wet and tried to elude the waves. Eventually, he had a good shot where the waves seemed like trying to reach him.

And the most exciting fun that day went to Justin. He found a spot where the waves were sporadic. He wanted to find out if he'll get wet. At first, the waves were barely touching him. But one huge wave surprised him and he was not able to escape this one on time.

Since it was already high tide and the waves were having great time, we had to be extra careful about each step we took. We had to patiently wait for a clear path and we had to make sure that our feet are firm in every step we made. Some of the group members took their sweet time because if you are not used to this kind of adventure, you'll definitely be challenged every step of the way. It is better safe than sorry. We cannot afford to be injured out here and we don't have our first aid kit with us.

After a while, the slippers of Gerald and Neil gave in. Their slippers could no longer tolerate the torture of the water and rocky path. And they had to endure the harsh shore and the hot sand towards where our boat is waiting.

But there was good news! We chanced upon a pile of garbage where the waves gathered and washed them offshore. And there were plenty of slippers in it. These could be the slippers of fellow explorers who came before us and they, too, shared the same fate as Gerald and Neil. A good find of a pair that will fit is like a treasure in a moment of your great need and our two friends were lucky that time.

It was already high noon and we could actually feel the scorching heat of the sun but the desire of a good and refreshing dip was ever present in our longing. Troi and Leigh were already in their best form to enjoy  the enticing and refreshing waters of this island but our guide told us that we could no longer afford to spend some more time on this island because we had one more destination to visit. And off we go to Anawangin cove.
