Food Trip 15 - Kalamay with Latik

One particular experience that a tourist, local or foreign, may never forget about the diversity of Filipino culture are the native sweet delicacies in wide array and are available in every nook of the country.  In every province of the country, one may find different varieties of food and some of them could intrigue one's curiosity.

Since rice is the major crop of the country, kalamay is one popular sweet delicacy that can be found all over the country. Preparations may vary as well as their presentations but the base ingredients of this sticky sweet delicacy are glutinous rice and brown sugar cooked in coconut milk and topped with fried coconut milk solids called latik.

And once you have tasted your first bite, it feels like there's no tomorrow with the remaining piece at hand.
