I was able to watch the
movie Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and I must say that the movie is
great. The effects are stunning and
spectacular, a must-see movie for Filipinos.
This movie reflects the true Filipino identity and culture.
Part of my growing up
years, and even up to this time, are the stories about aswangs. The movie reflects those stories I heard and
keep on hearing up to the present. But
even up to this time, the people in my province are still clueless about the
real score what the aswangs are really up to.
Still, stories and encounters are very much alive.
Going back to the movie, I noticed some
inconsistencies. First, the window
grills were suddenly gone when the gigantic mythical creatures were attacking
the ground floor of the house. Secondly,
the door that was forcefully opened by the gigantic mythical creatures remained
closed after their attack and after the blast.
Lastly, the gigantic mythical creatures are somewhat out of proportion
and during their final attack which is located at the store front, their count
seemed too many compared when they were in their formation before the
attack.
Anyway, I love the
action, the fast-paced story, the background graphics, and most of all, the
humor in the movie. With this innovation,
it shows that Filipinos can also make a world class movie.
