Poem 7 - When Evening Calls

Daylight is slowly creeping away
Giving way for the shadow to hide the day
The place will soon but a grotesque picture
To my haven, my solitude, I will nurture.

As the shadow replaces the light
It signals the end of my own plight
A days existence may soon be over
I need a good retreat to become sober.

When evening calls, I must give in
Calling it a day, strengthening my spirit within

When evening calls, I surrender my existence
To live another day with greater resilience.

When daylight is no longer in sight
Where its warmth cannot embrace my coldest night
I simply close my eyes and behold
Because I live another day in heaven’s fold.

And when darkness covers the land in its entirety
Where all hopes and dreams may go astray
I tried to hold on to whatever strength that is left on me
Looking forward for tomorrow, to a more blessed day.

When evening calls, I must give in
Calling it a day, strengthening my spirit within
When evening calls, I surrender my existence
To live another day with greater resilience.
